Hello everyone! This past weekend my husband and I went to Napa Valley for a fun, weekend getaway. It was our first time there so we were not sure exactly what to expect. After flying in to Oakland we rented a car and drive an hour north into Napa Valley. We stayed at the Andaz hotel in the heart of downtown Napa. The hotel was great and features a wonderful outdoor terrace bar and restaurant on the 2nd floor that we will be sure to spend more time at on our next visit.
After checking in and a quick change we headed up to St. Helena to visit the beautiful V. Sattui Winery. It’s family owned and founded in 1885 with award winning wines, artisan deli and picnic grounds. Our tour gave us a little history behind how they make their wine and also the process of wine fermentation. We toured the grounds and vineyards which we cut short due to the blazing 109 degree day. But it was all worth it because we ended up int he cellar barrel room for some wine tasting which was a great way to end the afternoon. I especially loved their Sauvignon Blanc and Red Zinfandel. After the tasting they were kind enough to let us run around the grounds and take all the photos we wanted to.
That evening we had reservations to dinner at Cole’s Chop House which is a Classic American steak house just a short walk from the hotel. All I can say is the 10oz filet was one of the best steaks ever. Great atmosphere and service too.
If you haven’t gone to Napa before I highly recommend it. You may just want to consider going in the Fall or Spring when it is not as hot.
